[Wow] Look Some Bollywood Movies in Ladakh for Holiday

Look Some Bollywood Movies in Ladakh for Holiday - Ladakh seems to have become the new favorite of Bollywood when it comes to shooting sequences. If Kashmir was the hottest draw for movie makers in the 60s and 70s, then it is now the turn of Ladakh to get its share of limelight. The buzz surrounding the Dal Lake has given way to the hysteria associated with Pangong Lake. This lake itself has prompted tourists from across the globe to book Ladakh holiday packages.

In case you are a patient of amnesia, just to refresh your memory, let us remind you that Pangong Lake was the one that was highlighted during the climactic sequence of ‘3 Idiots’ (yes that lip lock scene was shot on this turquoise water body’s shore). The popularity of Pangong and Ladakh on the whole shot up like a meteor after that Aamir Khan-starrer became a rage on the Bolly box office.

Speaking of amnesia and Aamir Khan, Ladakh also played the host for a few scenes from ‘Ghajini’. It is said that Aamir was quite overwhelmed with the pure beauty of Ladakh during the shooting of both the films and aired his views about the same in numerous interviews in the forthcoming days.

In more recent memories, it was Shahrukh Khan who tossed Ladakh right into spotlight as he shot for Yash Chopra’s swansong ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’. Incidentally, SRK too had some issues with his memory in the film.

‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’, the Farhan Akhtar flick which had a successful sprint at the box-office, was also partly shot in the charming locales of Ladakh. It is the joyous chastity and unadulterated beauty of these hills which have drew filmmakers to this destination again and again. So, in 2003, when Farhan was donning the directorial chair for Hrithik-Preity’s ‘Lakshya’, it was Ladakh that he picked as the chief shooting locale.

Best time to visit Ladakh is between May and July when the weather is warmer. But Kareena did make the mercury climb higher when she slipped into her teeny tiny costumes while shooting for ‘Tashan’ in these mountains.

Ladakh tourism department has been vocal about its gratitude towards the film industry for promoting this largely undiscovered destination amongst the common public. Long live Ladakh and long live Bollywood! So, when are you buying your Ladakh packages?
